About the FAHP

The Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP) is a designation bestowed on AHP members who have made significant contributions to the healthcare philanthropy profession. The recipient must demonstrate professional excellence and a commitment to healthcare philanthropy through their education, experience, performance, and service.

Application Criteria


A strong candidate for the FAHP will possess most or all of the following attributes:
  • Hold the CFRE, or demonstrate a similar commitment to lifelong learning, e.g. a Master’s degree
  • Active member of AHP for at least five years
  • Have worked as a direct practitioner at some stage of their career
  • Tenure of eight years or more in healthcare philanthropy
  • Demonstrated history of service to AHP and the philanthropic profession
  • Career success that had a transformative effect on the organizations they supported
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and community service
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare governance and philanthropy

Application Process

Applying to be a Fellow of AHP is a way to sum up your career success to date. To get to know you and your qualification for the prestigious Fellow designation, the selection committee wants to hear the story of your career as told by you and those who know you. There is a one-time $450 application fee.

The application process consists of two rounds:

Round One

  • Letter of endorsement
  • First essay question
  • Ethical statement
  • Candidate profile
  • Work history
  • Awards and volunteer history
  • Professional achievements
  • Education and credentials

Round Two

  • Three letters of reference
  • Second essay question
  • Personal interview with members of the selection committee

What does it mean to hold the AHP Fellow designation?

Becoming a Fellow of AHP signifies a high level of accomplishment and expertise in healthcare philanthropy. The designation assures the public that their donations are in the hands of a professional. On your resume, your AHP Fellow designation tells current and prospective employers that you have met a recognized standard of excellence and have reached the top of your profession.



Application Timeline

February 21, 2022: First round applications open

May 13, 2022: First round application deadline

May-June 2022: Committee reviews applications, invites select candidates to second round

June 2022: Second round applications open

August 2022: Committee reviews second round applications, conducts interviews

September 2022: Candidates notified of committee’s decision

October 2022: New Fellows class recognized at AHP Annual International Conference
