Lori Counts, FAHP, CFRE
Lori has more than 30 years of experience in fund development and has started development efforts for two healthcare systems from inception to maturity; one, a community-based system and the other, a large pediatric system spanning multiple states. As an accomplished development executive and certified executive coach, her areas of expertise include: Executive leadership, staff and board leadership training, cross-disciplinary collaboration, strategic planning and execution, major donor portfolio management and capital campaign fundraising.
She has been a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy for more than 20 years and is a frequent conference presenter. Most recently, she presented a session on enhancing the board experience from selection to on-boarding to actual board engagement at the 2019 International Conference for the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.
For 13 years, she was the Operational Vice President for Nemours Children’s Health System. Prior to Nemours she served as Vice President for Development at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Previously she was head of Development for Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air, MD, Director of Development for Harford Day School, Bel Air, MD and Development Coordinator at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive and holds a Master’s in Communication Arts from the University of Cincinnati.
She is presently principal consultant and executive coach for Accordant Philanthropy. Accordant Philanthropy focuses exclusively on healthcare philanthropy working with philanthropy professionals and healthcare leaders to help create a platform for innovation, collaboration and custom-tailored service.
