AHP Privacy Policy

This is the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) Internet Privacy Policy.

AHP values individual privacy and we want to give our Web site visitors the opportunity to know what information we collect about them and how they can limit the use of personally- identifiable information beyond the purposes for which they first provided it. At all times, however, AHP reserves the right to disclose information where required by law or to comply with valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order), to protect AHP’s rights or property, including without limitation in the event of a transfer of control of AHP or substantially all of its assets, or during emergencies when safety is at risk.

Whenever we change our policy, we will give reasonable notice by posting a notice on our home page. Since these policy change notices last only for a limited time, however, you should check this Privacy Policy regularly to see if there have been any changes.

Privacy Policy

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the AHP collects, uses and safeguards information on www.ahp.orghttp://connect.ahp.org, mobile websites, micro-sites, mobile applications, AHP profiles on AHP social media sites and any other digital services and properties officially operated or used by the AHP from time to time (the “Sites” or “Services”).

This Privacy Policy is an integral part of the agreement between you and us concerning the use of the Sites. The other integral parts of such agreement are the Terms of Service, the Community Guidelines, and any legal notices that may be provided by AHP.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

As the AHP, its membership, products and services change from time to time, this Privacy Policy is expected to change as well. We reserve the right to amend the Privacy Policy at any time, for any reason. The date of the last revision to the Privacy Policy will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page.

Information We Collect

  1. Personally Identifiable Information: We may collect information that identifies you (“Personally Identifiable Information”) when you interact and provide such information on our Sites such as, but not limited to, when applying for membership, registering for an AHP event or program, purchasing AHP products or services. The types of Personally Identifiable Information collected on our Sites will vary based on the Services offered on the Sites, but may include, among other things, your name, address, phone number, birth date, billing and delivery information, e-mail address, credit card or other financial account information. This information is only collected for direct users of AHP services and is not used in a medical or diagnostic context.
  2. Non-Personal Data: As you interact on our Sites, we may also collect information that is not Personally Identifiable Information but may disclose other aspects of your browsing history or certain other information about you through the use of a variety of technologies, including, but not limited to, cookies, tags, beacons, Internet Protocol (IP) address tracking/URL tracking, and other tools. "Cookies" are pieces of code/text that gets placed on your computer when you browse our Sites. Cookies may be placed by us or third party advertisers contracted by us. “Tags” and web beacons refer to code scripts that are primarily used to track visitors’ activities on our Sites by web analytics software. The types of non-personal data collected on our Sites through the use of these, and other tools as the AHP may add from time to time, may include: the search terms you used, new or returning user, browser information, computer type, operating system, internet service providers, website usage (including without limitation pages viewed), reports you run (including without limitation the comparison group you used) referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, number of clicks, ads viewed, etc. Additionally, cookies, tags and other tools placed by third parties may collect other information about you such as, but not limited to, your industry, company size, job function, seniority level, etc.)(collectively, all of the foregoing data the "Non-Personal Data"). Many consider the use of cookies and such identifiers to be an industry standard measure. Consequently, your Web browser is likely set to accept cookies or allow other identifiers. If you would prefer not to receive cookies or allow identifiers, however, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies or surf anonymously. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies or surf anonymously, you should understand that it is possible that some areas of our Website will not function properly when you view them.

How We Use and Share Personally Identifiable Information

Once collected, we may use your Personally Identifiable Information in a variety of ways including (but not limited to):

  • Provide service communications such as bill reminders, order confirmations, program registrations, and customer service messages
  • Answer your emails or online requests
  • Deliver and process surveys
  • Personalize and improve the usability of the Sites
  • Fulfill and/or deliver AHP products and services
  • Publish membership directories and registration lists as described below
  • Sharing with certain other companies to offer you products and services that may be of interest to you as described below
  • Sharing with third parties as required by law or to protect the AHP as described below
  • Sharing your Email Address as permitted under AHP Email Policy as described below

Publication of Your Personally Identifiable Information for Membership Directories and Registration Lists

As a professional organization, the Personally Identifiable Information you provide may be published on the Sites and in print or digital form in a variety of ways to allow other health care development professionals and/or the public to find you, including, but not limited to, directories, membership lists, and other types of registration lists for AHP programs and events (“Directory Lists”). Directory Lists will not include sensitive information, such as credit card or bank information, or social security numbers. Users may request their information be suppressed from Directory Lists by contacting us.

Sharing your Personally Identifiable Information to Fulfill Service Requests

When fulfilling service requests initiated by you, we may share your Personally Identifiable Information with certain third parties to fulfill the requests.

Sharing your Personally Identifiable Information With Certain Other Companies

The AHP may share Personally Identifiable Information, other than email address and financial account information, with certain other companies in order to provide them an opportunity to offer products or services that may be of interest to you, which helps contribute non-dues revenue to the AHP. The AHP also occasionally hires other companies to provide limited services on our behalf including, but not limited to, packaging, mailing and delivering promotional offers, sweepstakes or contests, answering customer questions about products or services, consulting services, data modeling, printing, sending postal mail and processing event registration.

Sharing Your Personally Identifiable Information When Legally Necessary or to Protect the AHP’s interests

The AHP may disclose your Personally Identifiable Information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process served on the AHP; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of AHP; or (c) protect the personal safety of AHP personnel or members of the public in appropriate circumstances.

Sharing Your Email Address Pursuant to AHP Policy

By providing your email address to us, you expressly consent to receive emails from us. We may use email to communicate with you, to send information that you have requested or to send information about other products or services developed or provided by us, provided that, we will not give your email address to another party to promote their products or services directly to you. The AHP will also not share email addresses to unrelated third-parties, affiliates or AHP members

Any communication or material you transmit to us by email or otherwise, including any data, questions, comments, suggestions or the like, is, and will be treated as, non-confidential and nonproprietary. Except to the extent expressly covered by this Policy, anything you transmit or post may be used by us for any purpose, including but not limited to, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast and posting. Furthermore, you expressly agree that we are free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how or techniques contained in any communication you send to us without compensation and for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to, developing, manufacturing and marketing products and services using such information.

How to Manage the Sharing of Your Personally Identifiable Information

You can manage your profile and email preferences, including opting out of Email either using the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the message or by contacting us. Additionally, if you prefer to receive mailings only from the AHP and have your name and address removed from the list provided to our business partners, please contact us. How We May Use and Share Non-Personal Data

Through the use of various technological tools, we may collect Non-Personal Data to improve the usability of our Sites/Services and for other business reasons. We do not share Personally Identifiable Information with third parties to whom we share your Non-Personal Data.

Children’s Privacy

AHP cares about the safety of children on its Site(s) and encourages parents and guardians to monitor their children’s use of the Internet. Although the Site(s) is suitable for a general audience, the Site(s) is not intended for children under thirteen (13) years of age. If you are under the age of 13, do not use or provide any information on this Site(s), including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any other information about yourself. AHP does not knowingly solicit or collect information from children under 13 years of age or send them requests for personal information. If you become aware that a child has provided information about or from the child to AHP, please contact AHP immediately so that such information can be deleted and AHP can discontinue any further services provided to such child.

California Privacy Rights

In addition to the rights as explained in this Privacy Policy, under California’s "Shine the Light" law, California residents who provide personal information (as defined in the statute) in obtaining products or services for personal, family or household use are entitled to request and obtain from us once a calendar year information about the personal information we shared, if any, with other businesses for marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of personal information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared such personal information for the immediately prior calendar year (e.g. requests made in 2012 will receive information about 2011). Information Security

The AHP implements commercially reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. We restrict access to personal information to the AHP’s business partners who may need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals or partner organizations are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

User ID and Password

Certain areas of the Sites may require the use of a user ID, email address or password as an additional security measure that helps protect your information.

To help you protect your privacy, the AHP Sites have clear tools to help you log in and log out.

Linking to Other Internet Sites

We sometimes may offer content (e.g., educational material or job listing(s) that is sponsored by or co-branded with an identified third party. In these instances, the third party may obtain information that you voluntarily submit to participate in a Site activity. We have no control over the third party’s use of this information. To ensure your privacy is protected, we recommend that you review the privacy statements of these other linked sites, applications or other content.

How You Can Access and Change Information

If you are a registered user of the Sites, subscriber to AHP publications, purchaser of AHP products and services or an AHP member, you may review and update/correct your information directly on the AHP’s website—www.ahp.org—or by contacting us.

No Guarantee

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Accordingly, and despite our efforts, the AHP cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, or to or from our online products or services. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia (without effect to its conflicts of law provisions), and the parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia. By visiting and using the Site and submitting information thereto, you therefore authorize this transfer of your information to the United States. If any part of this Privacy Policy is determined to be invalid or unenforceable pursuant to applicable law, then the invalid or unenforceable provision or part will be deemed suspended by a valid, enforceable, provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision or part and the remainder of this Privacy Policy shall continue in full force and effect.
