About the AHP Foundation

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation provides the resources for AHP to support the healthcare philanthropy community. Your generous pledge to the Foundation's annual fund helps AHP advance healthcare through philanthropic innovation, education, advocacy, and services and resources that benefit healthcare development professionals.

  • Your dollars fund several scholarships each year for those who are new to the profession or would not otherwise have a chance to experience a professional development institute or conference.
  • Your gifts keep the AHP Resource Center strong and accessible. The resource center provides materials and research on topics essential for today's healthcare development professionals.
  • Your pledge helps AHP advocate and promote our profession in a meaningful way.

The AHP Foundation will continue to support the AHP Resource Center and AHP Foundation Scholarship program as outlined in the 2016 Case for Support. Your contribution to the Foundation's annual fund is vital to the success of these programs.

Scholarship Recipients Appreciate Their Opportunities

“It was an incredible experience being part of the 2021 AHP International Conference held on October 20-21, 2021. The virtual setting allowed me to participate at different times at my convenience. I want to applaud the entire team that made it possible and worked behind the scenes to pull it off. The conference receives high marks from me as the content were relevant and timely for what our organization is currently struggling with just like a myriad of organizations during this pandemic. However, the missing part was the ability to physically interact with colleagues, which would have been magical.

I am indebted to AHP for this investment in me and affording me the opportunity to participate. Our industry is richer and will benefit immensely because of this investment in me.

Thank you to the AHP Hospital Development and Education Fund Canada for this great opportunity.”

“I was fortunate to attend two sessions in Summer 2021 through the Virtual Institute using scholarship funds from the AHP Foundation: Elements of Major Gifts (June 29-July 27) and Campaign & Major Gifts Initiatives (August 16-25).

Going in to both sessions, my expectations were that I would learn the basics of both major gift fundraising and campaign work. Those expectations were met, and so much more! We were given actual tasks using our donors and databases, and from that I was able to get my own portfolio into shape, with moves management tasks (which I never had before!). We are entering a comprehensive campaign in 2022 (we just finished up the planning study), and I feel confident (and realistic!) now about where I am with the donors in my portfolio.

I am so grateful for the scholarship money from the AHP Foundation so I was able to attend these two sessions. While the pandemic, and our need to have these sessions virtually, hasn’t been great for anyone, one silver lining is that I was able to participate in BOTH sessions and gain twice the knowledge this past summer.”

“I was truly honoured to be selected as an AHP Hospital Development and Education Fund of Canada bursary recipient this year, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Fundraising Management course. For me, it was particularly meaningful as I transitioned into a management role at my organization. With my promotion to Director, Leadership and Legacy Giving, I became a supervisor of four employees less than a month after the course started.

The sessions on Strategic Management and Leadership, Strategic Development Planning, and Managing Employees in Healthcare Development were incredibly valuable, as I learned a great deal from the very experienced and knowledgeable faculty.

I especially valued the quality and comprehensiveness of the course content, the excellent instruction by faculty members, and the opportunity to come together with peers at this particularly challenging time. Connecting with fellow fundraising professionals felt like a lifeline when so much about our work was changing rapidly and when we all were facing unpresented, and similar, challenges.

Attending the AHP Virtual Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy was one of the best professional development experiences I’ve ever had. I would jump at the opportunity to attend again. It changed, for the better, how I perceived my role at my organization and my beliefs about what makes a truly exceptional leader.”
