1. How did you get into healthcare philanthropy?
I got into healthcare philanthropy when in my former role with CCS Fundraising I was assigned to a healthcare client.
2. Why did you choose to make healthcare philanthropy your career?
I have chosen healthcare philanthropy as my career because it's the ideal way to have an impact on individuals and the community. We partner with donors to fund programs and equipment with a broad scope—touching tens of thousands of patients, families, and caregivers each year. For each of those individuals, what we funded may save their life, help their healing process, ease their suffering, or allow them to provide better care for others. What a tremendous mission to work for every day.
3. Tell us about a pivot point or crucial step in your career journey.
I served in the U.S. Peace Corps for three years in the Republic of Moldova. Through that experience, I discovered a passion for working with nonprofits that ultimately led to my career in fundraising.
4. What was your first job, and what is something it taught you?
Aside from babysitting, my first job was working for the computer help desk during college. It was a customer service role, answering phones and helping faculty troubleshoot computer issues. I learned patience, the value of politeness, and that a surprising number of technical problems are solved by restarting the computer.
5. What are your future aspirations?
I don't have specific future aspirations. I'm always looking for ways to continue to hone my skills, deepen my knowledge, and grow professionally.
